Four Things God Cannot Do

There are many places in the Bible where I find myself challenged, or encouraged, or filled with hope.  But there are a few verses where all of these come together and I am challenged, encouraged and filled with hope all at once.  Luke 1:37 is one of these places it says “For with God nothing will be impossible”.  Nothing is to hard for God!  What an encouraging paradigm.  There are things that seem to hard, that actually are too hard for us, but there is nothing too hard for God. I am inspired today to encourage you from this verse about the 4 things that God cannot do.  Four attributes, or character traits of God. First, God cannot lie.  Either everything He says it truth or nothing He says it truth.  Evaluate what He says based on the fact that you may have yet to see the completed promise here on earth, but it has already been completed in Heaven. There are countless promises of God in the Bible and everything God has said He would do has been done, it’s being done and it will be done in lives today, because God cannot lie.  Secondly God cannot change.  Malachi 3:6 God says “I am the Lord and I do not change”.  Hebrews 13:8 says “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever”.  God is unable to change.  Jesus is always the same.  God cannot and does not change!  And thirdly, God cannot fail. God is a finisher and a completer.  Philippians 1:6 tell us “He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it” Hebrews 12:2 tells us that Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our faith, so put your faith in Him, lean on Jesus today!  And finally we need to remember that God cannot do nothing.  That seems like poor use of the English language, right?  What I am encouraging you with is that it is impossible for God to do nothing.  It is impossible for you to have faith, for you to pray, for you to believe in His promises, for you to trust Him, and God do nothing.  So despite your circumstances today.  Trust Jesus, try leaning on Him.  He has never lied, He’ll never change, He will never fail you, and when you come to Him in faith, and when you call on Him in prayer, He will always, always, always, meet you with something that will bring you peace and reveal His grace for your life!  Try leaning on Jesus this week, He won’t disappoint you.
